StepStones for Youth (www.stepstonesforyouth.com)  is an innovative and dynamic charitable organization in Toronto dedicated to providing intervention and sustainable support for children and youth. Many of these youth are exiting the foster care and group home system or are currently living in foster homes and shelters.

The Opportunity

StepStones for Youth is seeking a  Youth Worker Supervisor to support service delivery. The successful candidate will be able to support, guide  and coach social workers and youth service workers in their creative, patient, and persistent outreach. This role also includes supporting workers in the administration of youth workshops, awareness campaigns, and youth dinners. The successful candidate will have strong and developed assessment and clinical skills to support staff in their roles.  They will also have up-to-date knowledge of relevant community support resources and will create effective working relationships with key partners to promote a responsive and supportive approach to service delivery.

Focus areas for this role are:

  • Manage and coach team of youth service workers by providing on-going weekly clinical case management supervision
  • Review supervision notes, evaluate worker progress, review reporting documentation, conduct case conferences and regular team meetings
  • Facilitating large group events adn workshops for youth from foster care
  • Assist staff by supervising complex cases
  • Establish good lines of communication and timely communications with staff and create a strong team and good working relationships among staff members.
  • Report on program outcomes to Program Director and adhere to program mission, vision and strategic direction
  • Ensure the programs remain high-impact, effective and efficient, and take into account the complex needs of the service recipients
  • Collect program statistical information and program performance indicators generated from routine documentation and use these to analyze youth outcomes and alter services delivery as needed.
  • Correspond and manage relationships with service providers & partner organizations
  • Arrange and complete referral source presentations and outreach;
  • Ensure all youth are supported in mentorship and caregiving relationship and support network development, housing and increased educational attainment
  • Support the completion of applications for funding from the government, charitable and private organizations related to program
  • Support the volunteer program and ensure proper screening, ongoing monitoring and support is provided to all volunteers

  • Strong organizational, assessment and time management skills; including budgetary experience, accountability and reliability; and the ability to work effectively and independently under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues

Salary range $65,000 - $72,000 annually

This position will require regular in-office work. StepStones is currently transitioning to back in the office on a regular basis.

StepStones for Youth requires that all employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as per current Canada Public Health guidelines. All employees will be required to show evidence that they are fully vaccinated.

Requirements:

  • Access to a vehicle and a valid ON Driver’s License with appropriate insurance required
  • 7+ years of experience working with youth who are considered high-risk and vulnerable
  • 2+ years of experience managing staff working within high-risk populations
  • A university degree in a social science field related to this position
  • Proficient with supervision, service delivery, and case management fundamentals
  • Extensive knowledge of child protection services and foster care resources, adolescent development, community outreach and engagement strategies for marginalized youth;

Hours:

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with some evenings as required
