General Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, Communications & Development, the Director of Campaign & Leadership Gifts provides leadership in the development and implementation of current and new revenue generating programs focused on leadership giving growth. In this new role for the organization, the incumbent will build the framework for a leadership campaign and plays a key role in identifying and securing leadership donations.

The Director of Campaign & Leadership Gifts plays a vital role in the development and implementation of Ovarian Cancer Canada’s (OCC’s) revenue growth and leads a team of fundraisers that identifies, cultivates, stewards individual donors, corporate partners, granting organizations, fundraisers, and volunteers to drive continued financial growth to deliver on our mission.

This is a full-time, remote work-from-home position which includes regular meetings via tele-video conference and occasional travel.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP, Marketing, Communications and Development to develop and implement the annual plan and strategies to secure lead gifts and multi-year pledges to support a leadership campaign, and growth of the annual fund.
  • Alongside the Director of Marketing and Communications, and the Director of Community Engagement and Events, develop cross-functional strategies aligned to organizational goals.
  • Lead and support the Campaign and Leadership Gifts team and fundraisers through coaching, mentoring, and setting clear goals and expectations, tools, and best practices.
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, in preparation for the launch of a multi-million research campaign.
  • Work with the Grant Writer to prepare and deliver funding proposals, sponsor and partner agreements, and granting applications to reach revenue targets and multi-year commitments.
  • Establish trust and confidence with senior volunteer leadership, community leaders and funders.
  • With a donor centric approach, deliver engaging and meaningful funding proposals that aligns to the donor’s philanthropic aspirations and the organizations’ funding needs.
  • Assess needs and contribute to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend necessary steps to bring prospects closer to making major financial commitments to the organization.
  • Manage programs and activities designed to obtain maximum financial support from a wide range of donors to advance Ovarian Cancer Canada’s strategic priorities.
  • Manage and track consolidated KPI’s, revenue targets, budgets, and forecasting
  • Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for cross-functional donor engagement and implement donor migration strategies.
  • With a growth mindset, work closely with a cross-functional team to uncover new revenue generating opportunities.

Skills, attributes, and qualifications

  • University or College degree in Fundraising/Business or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience, with a focus on leadership giving.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation considered an asset.
  • Experience working with all forms of revenue generation in the charitable sector, including developing and managing campaigns, and leadership giving.
  • Demonstrated ability in cultivating and soliciting leadership gifts.
  • Experience with donor contact and personal solicitation for donations.
  • Experience developing cooperative working staff and volunteer relationships.
  • Demonstrate strong organization and project management skills with the ability to handle high volumes of work and shifting timelines and priorities
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Collaborative and responsive to the needs and concerns of fellow team members as well as our community (including people living with ovarian cancer, their friends and families, donors, and other followers/supporters).
