Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting St. Marys Golf & Country Club’s mission to “Create and Inspire Genuine Lifetime Experiences.” This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to training, compensation, and engagement, while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies. Working closely with the General Manager, departmental leaders and managers, the HR Generalist fosters a positive and productive workplace culture through effective recruitment strategies, employee development programs, and proactive health and safety practices. This role also champions internal communication, recognition initiatives, and HR systems management to support a high-performing and values-driven team.

Hours of Work: NOTE: Hours fluctuate seasonally:

28-32 hours/week May-December, 32-40 hours/week January-April

Monday-Friday

Essential Job Functions:

Recruitment & Selection:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, assessments, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and align hiring with company values and competencies.
  • Support immigration processes and coordinate hiring of temporary foreign workers.
  • Conduct exit interviews and recommend improvements to enhance the employee experience.

Training and Development:

  • Coordinate onboarding and training programs to support employee growth and promotions.
  • Coach and support managers on performance management, feedback, and disciplinary processes.
  • Support mental health and well-being through access to resources and proactive initiatives.
  • Ensure training compliance with federal and provincial regulations.

Compensation:

  • Research and propose compensation packages in collaboration with Finance and hiring managers.
  • Set up and maintain employee compensation in HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Assist with the development, communication and coordination of benefits and pension plans.

Monitoring and Control:

  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Coordinate internal communication, engagement initiatives, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain employee records, manage HRIS data, and monitor legal compliance.
  • Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee activities and oversee workplace safety programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience in a related environment is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
