Position: Full-time, permanent
This position will work onsite, out of FSWC’s physical office location in Toronto, Canada Monday – Thursday, with ability to work remotely on Fridays.

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) is a non-profit human rights organization committed to countering racism and antisemitism and to promoting the principles of inclusion, social justice and Canadian democratic values through advocacy and education.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

FSWC is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to take on the role of Programs Lead and Fundraising Assistant. This position will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative, impactful programming that expands our reach across Canada and strengthens the fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate. Additionally, the role will support the fundraising team in securing resources to advance our mission and grow the organization's impact.

  • Oversee the promotion, implementation, and evaluation of our outreach programs both virtual and in-person, ensuring alignment with FSWC’s mission
  • Design from concept to execution innovative programs that provide meaningful, authentic opportunities to confront hatred and intolerance
  • Create engaging and stimulating programs and opportunities, with a particular focus on community engagement, student engagement, and young professionals (genNOW)
  • Support where needed for FSWC’s marquee events, State of the Union and Spirit of Hope
  • Collect, record and present program statistical information and program performance indicators to share in with key stakeholders
  • Seek out and develop new partnership opportunities to continue the important work of the organization
  • Represent FSWC and network actively with stakeholders, staying abreast of the work of other organizations, government initiatives and policies, and actively participate in key events, workshops, and forums
  • Work with the fundraising team to bring in donations, manage the database, help with receipting and other administrative duties

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run monthly virtual webinar series and other virtual events, which involves seeking out speakers, securing event dates, managing event registration, monitoring event promotion, and facilitating the webinars.
  • Coordinate logistics of in-person events including venue contracts, catering, communications, event registration, promotion and implementation.
  • Take incoming phone calls and manage the email account to process donations, send out tribute cards, and relay messages to other staff members.
  • Manage the donor database by adding all new event attendees in an efficient and accurate manner.

YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Holocaust education, the fight against hate, discrimination and antisemitism and the protection and advancement of human rights nationally and globally.
  • Superior relationship-building and communication skills ensuring the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, able to work as a key part of a strong team, excellent attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating complex service contracts with public, private and community organizations and developing business plans.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Strong time management skills; active user of technology; budgetary experience; and the ability to work effectively and independently under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software is an asset.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing, Fundraising, Human Rights, Political Science, or related.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience preferable in a nonprofit organization.
  • Understanding the importance of educating the public about the Holocaust and antisemitism, with the ability to effectively communicate its significance in both educational and advocacy settings.
  • Experience working with educators, policymakers, community leaders, or Jewish organizations is an asset.
